Julia Shields is the owner and director of Free Spirit Yoga & Pilates. A registered YABC Senior Yoga Teacher and Yoga Alliance Eryt 500 Yoga Teacher and Yoga teacher trainer. Julia has lived and breathed Yoga for over 30 years and has been teaching both Yoga and Pilates as a full time career since the mid 1990’s.

Yoga Alliance certified ERYT 500 hour level June 2005
Yoga Association of B.C. Senior Mentor recognized at the 500 plus hour level and approved to train Yoga teachers at the 200 and 500 hour level

Allan is Julia's husband, best friend & business partner. Allan is a devoted Surrey Firefighter and practices Yoga and TRX to help stay in shape for his physically demanding job and to keep a focused, clear mind. Allan enjoys biking, hiking, fishing, rv'ing, travelling the world and dabbling in real estate.
Allan works behind the scenes to keep our studio's well maintained and in excellent repair. He is also qualified to teach Nordic Poling, TRX Suspension training, Thai massage level one and has his First Aid and CPR.

Kirsten radiates kindness, sincerity and patience and is blessed with the wonderful gift of putting people at ease. Kirsten began her yoga journey in 2001 and soon discovered profound transformation in her physical, emotional and spiritual body. This transformation and feeling of empowerment led Kirsten along the path to Yoga Teacher Training at the 200 hour level, where she excelled in all levels.
Kirsten is excited to be able to share her knowledge of yoga with others. Her gentle, easy going personality makes her a natural teacher for pre-natal yoga, mom's & babes yoga, hatha yoga and seniors/osteo fit yoga.

Virginia was drawn to yoga to reduce stress and improve flexibility. She soon realized yoga has many rewards through dedicated practice.
Virginia's philosophy is to work with your body from the inside out. Her aspirations are to help others find balance of mind, body and spirit. Virginia currently teaches yoga and pilates mat classes and a combination of both modalities.

| Sara began practicing various yoga styles in 1999 after many years of formal dance training. After being inspired by so many yoga practitioners, she completed her long awaited goal of becoming a yoga instructor with her friend and mentor, Julia Shields of Free Spirit Yoga & Pilates. At which time she trained in Classical Hatha Yoga, Patanjali's Eight Limbs. Sara is compassionate, energetic, easy going, and honest.
She is inspired by the various styles of yoga, and the physical and emotional benefits received by this practice.

Lauren is a certified Pilates Matworks Instructor from the PhysicalMind Institute of Canada. Her background is in dance and acting. Lauren started dancing at a young age and continued with it all the way to college. It was in college that Lauren found another passion of hers, acting. After graduating from the Canadian College of Performing Arts, Lauren began teaching dance. Lauren's strong background in dance and acting are great assests for her as an instructor. After years of practicing Pilates and Yoga, Lauren decided to become a Pilates instructor. At PhysicalMind, Lauren studied the fundamentals and exercises for both the mat and standing Pilates. It was an intense and thorough course and gave Lauren the skills and confidence she needed to be the best instructor she can be.

Rene Ashby is a 200 Hour Registered Yoga Instructor and began her yoga journey over eight years ago. She only fell in love with it just two years ago when she found a teacher she could connect with and started to learn what yoga is truly all about.
Rene compliments her yoga teaching with a certification in Reiki and Holistic Massage. Her understanding of people’s unique bodies and their different needs ensures that she teaches with compassion and love.
Rene is committed to helping fellow yogi’s, and yogi’s to be, understand their own body’s limitations and potential. Namaste!

| Sherie completed her 200 hour level Yoga teacher training program with Free Spirit Yoga & Pilates in 2009 and just recently completed her Pre-natal Yoga teacher training. Sherie combines playfulness with a physically challenging and spiritually uplifting practice. Sherie looks forwarding to sharing the wisdom of her teachers and Yoga practice with her fellow Yogi's and Yogini's.
Sherie teaches Beginners and Intermediate Hatha Yoga, Hatha Flow Yoga, Yin Inspired Yoga and Pre-natal.

Marian completed her 200 hour level Yoga teacher training in 2009 with Julia Shields at Free Spirit Yoga & Pilates. Her Yoga teaching is complemented by a B.Sc in kinesiology from SFU and the completion of a level 1V meditation program at Veracis Wellness. Although inspired by many styles of Yoga Marian is drawn to the softer approaches such as gentle hatha, yin inpsired and restorative Yoga. Marian hopes to inspire others as she shares the joy that Yoga has brought to her own life.

| Amy is a Registered Aromatherapist, Certified Yoga & Meditation Instructor, a Reiki and Healing Touch practitioner and an Intuitive. Her passion and business is The Blending Bar Aromatherapy, serving up Yoga, Energy Healing, Custom Blended Aromatherapy, Insight Card Readings and Active Guided Meditation.
Amy blends and delivers these Life Essentials with a Twist through informative workshops, custom blended products and unique treatments in Metro Vancouver.

| Lindsay began her yoga journey seven years ago at a gym to improve her balance and flexibility. She was immediately drawn to practice and the physical and mental benefits that came along with it. Yoga has helped her to sustain balance in her daily life in both body and mind.
She has found yoga to be beneficial with her other interests such as snowboarding and dancing; by improving her awareness of her body and movement and its surroundings. Lindsay has always had an interest in the human body and movement and went on to obtain her B.Kin from UCFV and is currently working as a registered kinesiologist and personal trainer.
